Love in Return – “heaven passed”

/

An ambitious success spanning from dreamy pop to soaring rock nostalgia, “heaven passed” is a standout track from Love in Return. The project comes via the artist Max Frazer, born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Following multiple successful singles last year, Love in Return kicks off 2023 in similarly high-quality form, with “heaven passed” and its evolving dream-pop pursuits.

Spacious vocals and serene key pulsations craft a caressing introduction, quickly perked up by buzzing synth injections. A graceful, piano-laden yearning complements the budding vocal presence, captivating especially around 02:30 with the escalating percussion and synths. The “coming home,” segment haunts with the gorgeous backing vocals and further synth basses, with psych-ready guitar blasts driving into a scorching lead approaching the four-minute turn. The track develops beautifully from dreamy contemplation into rock-friendly vigor.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2023’ Spotify playlist.
