Woodlot – “Bring It Down”

Toronto-based band Woodlot conjure a classic-sounding, hypnotic appeal on their new single “Bring It Down.” Mystical acoustics and pit-pattering percussion are complemented by loosely invigorating electric guitar spurts, as a soaring vocal presence acknowledges that “I’m doing fine down in this hole.” “Just bite your tongue,” they plead as the instrumentation subtly intensifies, reminding aesthetically of a mix between early Supergrass and Elephant 6 staples.

The ensuing chorus plays with a feeling of spontaneity, as various vocal layers converge with capricious charm. Soaring vocals, diverse guitar tones, and a sense of hypnotic nostalgia lead this success from Woodlot. They describe the track as “about the frustration many people feel these days about being so connected but somehow not being able to truly communicate.”
