Alec Rose – “Underwater”

/

Los Angeles-based artist Alec Rose impresses with the debut single “Underwater.” The vocals portray a sense of blissful submergence beneath the waters — yearning for connection as the waves crash by. “If I could breathe underwater,” the vocals let out with emotive engrossment, escalating with spine-chilling results into the trickling, dreamy guitars passing the two-minute turn. The passionate vocals, gliding acoustics, and lead to a gorgeous textural expanse past the first minute.

Ghostly, wordless vocal effects drive into another rousing “I was born too late,” sequence, continuing the track’s elegant and moving qualities. “Underwater” is a heartrending, atmospheric introduction from Alec Rose. The dreamy, introspective soundscape is further propelled by lyrics that play like a reflection of Rose’s “subconscious mind,” inspired by a recurring dream he had about breathing underwater.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2023’ Spotify playlist.
