Benjamin David – “Divine”

/

Swelling into a theatrically rousing rock display, “Divine” is a stellar single from London-based artist Benjamin David. Contemplative vocals and perky piano gives an initially soulful feeling, escalating quickly into a rock-forward fervency. “We’re all naked in the eyes of the divine,” precedes a rousing expanse, with buzzing guitars and bright organs illuminating the initially suave disposition.

“My daddy’s leaving with no bags to take,” David lets out prior to the next chorus, referencing his father’s untimely passing as influencing the track. “I started writing Divine the day before my dad was diagnosed with cancer as if I knew my life was about to be flipped upside-down,” David explains. “The song is about the rude awakening you get when something traumatic happens and I hope it can act as a reminder to anyone who is struggling that they are not alone.”

“I found my demon,” reaches falsetto-friendly heights, driving into a satiating final sequence with dramatically engaging rock charisma. The string-laden shimmering adds further to the beautiful production, as the “divine,” refrain resonates with impassioned chills. “Divine” is a resonating, heartfelt success.
