Aaron Friend & the Enemies – “Pretender”

/

“Pretender” is a heartfelt new single from Nashville-based Aaron Friend & the Enemies. Jangly contemplation intrigues during the opening sequence. The “I don’t believe in a word you say,” vocal resonates with its portrayal of skepticism and potential heartache, conjuring intrigue following the jangly guitars and twinkling keys of the preceding verses. “Are you just a pretender?” is asked; a chilling allure is fully apparent into the final, jangly reprisal.

The track describes “a relationship on knifes edge, with swirling secrets that could to push it over the edge at any moment.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
