Push to Shove – “Grand Well”

/

Chicago-based band Push to Shove show an intriguing rock sound with “Grand Well.” Charismatic multi-vocal layering mingles amidst a thumping rhythmic underlying, showing shades of Mr. Bungle. “Eternity is so much time,” they let out as the venomous guitar distortion appears, as an elongated “time,” beckoning leads back into the verses.

Moments of almost-eruptions, like the raucous vocal swell past the four-minute turn, fully invigorate — as does the ensuing guitar pulses and eerie “did all of your dreams come true?” questioning. “Grand Well” does well in showcasing the band’s creative rock spirit. I’m anticipating their upcoming album ATOM DEATH, releasing on August 11th.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
