FOXGLOVES – “Descender”

Miami-based quartet FOXGLOVES show a menacing rock engrossment throughout “Descender,” a track whose brooding introspection immerses with both dreamily climactic intrigue and chaotic invigoration. A swampy blast of guitars sends chills from the get-go, falling into a lusher embrace as the vocals creep in. The dark alt-rock soundscape reminds fondly of A Perfect Circle.

Shortly following the first minute turn, a thickly reverberating array of guitar tones and ensuing feedback complements the forlorn vocal presence. A sweltering vocal ardency envelops in the minute following, haunting with chilling effect past the track’s mid-point. A blistering, deliciously screeching guitar ferocity and steady rhythms build into a resonating finale.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.
