Marlene Larsen – “I Said I’m Fine”

//

Led by dreamy vocal captivation and moody guitar smoothness, “I Said I’m Fine” is a new track from Marlene Larsen, an artist from Lyon, France. Representing the second single from her debut EP, “I Said I’m Fine” builds with satiating appeal from lush contemplations into a rousing rock fierceness. The track deftly balances a sense of ’90s nostalgia with a modern rock punch.

Initial guitars exude a calmness, set aptly alongside the laid-back vocal composure. The hazy, lethargic distortion shows a segmented, climactic charm as the vocals assume a soaring escalation — culminating in the “I’m fine, I’m fine,” reassurances. A fervent tour-de-force takes hold as the final minute approaches. “It was never about you,” is admitted into the blast of guitar distortion; intense vocals and clanging guitar power combine here for a replay-inducing temptation.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
