Dorine Levy – “Tough Love”

/

Tel Aviv-based singer/songwriter Dorine Levy captures the role of resiliency in love with the stirring new single “Tough Love.” Born and raised in Canada, Levy debuted in 2013 with the single “Lenyrose” and over the past decade has released a variety of successful singles. “Tough Love” is her latest success.

Twangy guitars and wordless vocal lushness combines for a nocturnal atmospheric spell to start, reminding of Chromatics in the mystique-heavy vocal tone and jangly, serene guitar trickles. Sporadic piano pulses remain as percussion steps back during the emotive bridge, culminating in the affirming “it’s a tough love, where do you think you’re going?” hook.

Relationships will encounter obstacles throughout, and this track masterfully captures times when resiliency becomes essential, and proves pivotal in determining the relationship’s endurance. Dreamy vocal layering, moody guitars, and thematic power combine on the wholly effective “Tough Love” from Dorine Levy.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
