Buddy Crime – “Move Around”

/

Louisville-based solo artist Buddy Crime struts a stylish ’80s nostalgia on the funky new track “Move Around.” The intro dazzles with the familiar Seinfeld bass sample driving into gyrating synths and twinkling keys. The throwback aesthetic is palpable audibly, and the music video fully embraces as such — with laser-friendly floor and neon-friendly shapes accompanying fun movement.

“Move Around” builds steadily from a fairly hushed vocal presence, with energy and intrigue injected via the bright stabs and fat synth swells approaching the two-minute turn. Here, the “move around, turn it up!” hook compels into glistening keys and a spacey bridge. The track concludes with a refrain of this stellar hook, encouraging melodic-induced movement and an embrace for colorful throwback glitziness.

“The song is a part of a story about an AI that 3D prints himself in search for truth about the world,” Buddy Crime explains “This is the song about him learning to move his body and the party he has the first night he’s alive.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
