Khemet McConville – “I Look Through Your Window”

//

“I Look Through Your Window” is a mellow psych-pop success from Khemet McConville. The Pasadena-based artist handles all production, vocals, and instrumentation on his releases, including this stellar output, which was nearly two years in the making.

Airy synths and lush vocals convey a title-touting refrain to start, casting a hypnotic spell as jazzy hi-hats enter the fold. The illuminated soundscape is uplifted by a psych-friendly guitar line — showing shades of Tame Impala. The panting rhythmic presence and radiant effervescence build with momentum into the breath-y vocal underlying, culminating in another delightful guitar infusion to close things out with satiating impact.

The release is among many recent activities for the artist, who is performing with numerous local bands, producing for other artists, playing bass as a session musician, and talent-booking at Los Angeles’ Peppermint Club. In the midst of it all, he has released a gem in “I Look Through Your Window.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
