Odd Relics – “Rooftops”

/

“Rooftops” is a warming, hypnotic single from Odd Relics, the project of Los Angeles-based Producer Brian Squillace. The guitar-loop feeling into spacey synth trickles makes for a cohesive evolution amidst the calming vocals and backing vocal sample effect. Per Squillace, the track is “about the feeling of knowing a relationship is about to end, and accepting how fragile the moment is.”

The meshing of serene guitars and electronics, combined with the understated vocal delivery, fondly resembles The Radio Dept.’s sound. The second half is particularly magnetic in its textural flickering, with snappy percussion and colorful synths accompanying the subdued vocal lead with melodically satiating results. “Rooftops” presents an atmospherically blissful appeal throughout.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
