Fallen Letters – “Remain A Memory”

/

A hard-rocking debut single from Fallen Letters, “Remain A Memory” meshes initial understated introspection with brooding vocal expanses and upticks in guitar distortion. The duo — based in Bangalore, India — comprises Vishal Naidu and Aditya Ramesh

Moody vocals ruminate on “pictures of you in my head,” amidst jangling guitars, complemented by a warming bass embrace as the vocals ascend in emotion. A further vocal clarity emits a yearning — “waiting for you,” — amidst the rhythmic evolution, culminating in an impassioned dose of guitar distortion and questioning lyrical ferocity.

At various points, the dark alt-rock spell reminds fondly of Tool, conjuring a ’90s nostalgia in the vocals’ menacing switch-up within the snarling hook. The resumption of understated, jangly guitars lends a ghostly appeal and eclectic prowess. “Remain A Memory” is a sturdy rock showcase from Fallen Letters.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
