Hana Piranha – “Lorelei”

/

“Lorelei” is a gripping new track from Hana Piranha, who unveil an assortment of powerful guitars, moody strings, and dynamic vocal offerings throughout. The track releases ahead of the Brighton, UK-based band’s upcoming album, Wingspan.

A spoken-word vocal momentum casts a darkly intriguing entrancement, building into a riveting title-touting chorus. “Hold that knife against my throat, look into my eyes real close,” the vocals outpour with visceral ardency. The contrast between reserved spoken words and the darkly anthemic allure makes for a ceaselessly riveting production, blending understated post-punk vigor with an anthemic ’80s rock passion.

The mid-point dazzles with its creepy string infusions and industrial synth fragments, culminating in another powerful vocal burst. “Lorelei” is a powerful showing from Hana Piranha, whose enjoyably eerie rock/electronic synergy complements a stirring lyrical portrayal of an abusive relationship and the healing that ensues.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
