Proklaim – “THIEVES”

“THIEVES” is a socially conscious hip-hop success from Proklaim, an artist from Namibia. A hooky refrain centers on the world’s sense of constant chaos, while the more flourishing verses trace the highs and lows amidst a gliding guitar-laden lushness. “I look around and see the world going crazy,” a mellower vocal refrain emits. “Is it just me?” — the questioning plays with poignancy, in seemingly perpetual form as the world spins around with tumult.

The production’s contrast between the repeating soulfulness and driving verses — emitting perseverance with lines like “even when I couldn’t see the finish line, I had to take another step.” “THIEVES” proves resonating in its motivational, confident qualities existing amidst acknowledgment of a clout-chasing society and world full of strife. Proklaim, who has been recording since 2011, continues to impress, catching our ears previously this year with tracks like “all eyez” and “REASON 2 BELIEVE.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
