Jack Simpson – “Trees”

/

A suave rock styling grips on “Trees,” a new single from Jack Simpson. The Harrogate, UK-based singer/songwriter show a steady rock enamoring amidst lyrical contemplations on people’s tendency to ignore nature surrounding them.

A relatable depiction of one focusing on the coming work-day, and seizing the few free moments remaining in a weekend, rouses into an observational charm: “She saw the bees, felt the breeze, she didn’t think ‘look up at the trees.'” The symbolism, equating natures with trees, proves resonating — particularly as a satiating, bluesy guitar twangs hit following this debonair vocal sequence.

An ardent vocal reflection proves invigorating in the track’s second half, with the “look up at the trees,” segment reprising into the twangy finale. “Trees” represents the first in a coming series of singles, as part of an upcoming EP. Following this success, we’re certainly anticipating what’s next.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
