La Need Machine – “I Wish I Could Fly”

/

Seattle-based rockers La Need Machine impress with a hooky appeal on new single “I Wish I Could Fly.” A cohesive swell from acoustic-minded introspection to an anthemic rock engrossment takes hold, alongside lyrics that emphasize the “impacts of climate change on wildlife.” Its narrative follows a black bear driven away from his home by wildfires, and the impact it has on nearby wildlife as well.

“If I could speak, would you listen to me?” an emotive vocal outpouring leads into strings and jangly hooky emergence, exuding a charming title-referencing refrain. A bright guitar line mingles with frolicking acoustics in the ensuing bridge, driving seamlessly into the “sad for you,” more singer/songwriter engrossment of the verses. “I Wish I Could Fly” fully enamors in its commanding range — impressing all through acoustical balladry, string-forward escalation, and jangly rock composures.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2023’ Spotify playlist.
