Giardini Oort – “Dark Thoughts”

/

An electronic single that unfolds with wintry, atmospheric precision, “Dark Thoughts” is the latest from Italian artist Giardini Oort. The haunting soundscape is reflective of the track’s artistic statement. Per the artist, “Dark Thoughts” was “conceived amidst the solemn reflections on the tragedies of war, particularly those affecting the innocent lives of children in conflict zones such as Syria and Gaza.” Second-half vocal insertions represents internal dialogues of youth captured in “the crossfire of adult conflicts.”

A darkly entrancing synth development takes hold from the get-go, reminding of Boards of Canada in its wintry, elongated expanse. The crackling tone and higher-pitched frequency traverse into a throbbing percussive pulse, expanding in rhythmic prominence as icy-cold piano integrations unfold. String-laden whispers send chills at the mid-point, emitting an ominous spell into a conclusion that converges the twinkling keys and buzzing undercurrents with a satiating effect. “Dark Thoughts” is another atmospheric, poignantly thematic stunner from Giardini Oort, who previously caught our ears with the tracks “Login” and Humans.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
