Rachel Mintz – “A Daze”

//

With a career spanning from heavy rock and punk projects to more lush pop solo pursuits, Rachel Mintz‘ quality songwriting remains a constant. “A Daze” is a compelling success from Mintz, originally from Miami, gripping in its ascent from aspiring, subdued verses into a brightly soaring catharsis in the twinkling hook.

The track’s lyrical “let’s leave this crazy town,” aspirations contrast with one who “always sticks to the grind,” — illustrating an adventurous aspiration for change, fighting against a sense of contentment. The contemplative verses build with seamless vigor into the emotive outpouring of the chorus, with the “it’s not safe here,” multi-layered vocal segment captivating alongside synth additions. “A Daze” is one of numerous standouts across Mintz’ new album Do Things For Me.
