Povyy – “Brazil Was Built Around Me” + “All Dazed”

//

Boston-based project Povyy show compelling songwriting and enjoyable range on two new singles. The slow-burning folk sound of “Brazil Was Built Around Me” hypnotizes with its steady vocal narration and title-referencing refrain, lending a warmly atmospheric stirring. Meanwhile, “All Dazed” compels with a jangly, slacker-rock appeal that encourages to “take a picture of my dreams,” into a meditative, aptly dazed vocal repetition. “Fuck all those things you held too tight,” the vocals further a sense of shrugging retrospection. These are two standouts from Povyy, impressing in both the folk and rock-forward realms.

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
