Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Dash Hammerstein provides a mellow entrancement on new single “The Conversationalist,” whose suave vocals, throwback piano flourishes, and grooving pulses make for a memorable folk and Americana intertwining. Time-shifting orchestral snippets quickly assume a chilled-out familiarity, as Hammerstein’s debonair vocals enter. “I know what happens next,” he sings slyly, getting “messages straight from the heartland,” with melodic immersion. “He’s a conversationalist,” the vocals beckon at the conclusion, capping it off in replay-inducing form.
