Extra Space – “Spiral Stares”

/

Evolving from quaintly impactful guitars and vocals into a distortion-friendly conclusion, “Spiral Stares” is a stirring new track from Extra Space. The project’s name derives from its initially tentative state. Joey Puleio (jjoey) and Chris Kyle initially planned to simply clean up and re-organize their shared Brooklyn rehearsal studio, yet began sharing ideas and songs — and eventually the project was formed, whilst they made extra space in their studio. The recording of their debut record Green Season followed.

The “under the weight,” sequence is especially inviting, as the guitars stretch their legs out with a twangy affection and into a shimmering, textural intrigue. The steady, relaxed vocals add cohesively throughout. “Spiral Stares” has us anticipating whatever’s next from Extra Space.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
