Invoking sweltering ’70s rock in the vein of Led Zeppelin, “Hunny” is a rousing debut single from Matilija. “I’m never gonna let you go, because I love you so,” a Robert Plant-esque vocal ferocity lets out, moving from sporadic guitar jumpiness into a roaring passion and yearning “to hold you in my arms.” The band describe the stylish rocker as “about having a longing and obsession for someone or something you crave.” It’s a delectably throwback charmer that has us firmly anticipating whatever’s next from Matilija.
