CHAFT – “Worth”

/

Jangly guitars and a jazz-inspired chord progression delight on “Worth,” a new single from CHAFT. The solo project of multi-instrumentalist Derek Miller caught our ears last year with standout tracks like “High” and “Fever,” and his tendency for quality songwriting continues here with “Worth.”

“I don’t want to think there’s nothing to do it, take me back before the hour is done,” Miller’s vocals kick off, melding into a psych-friendly dose of additional vocal layers and jangling guitar spiritedness. The “what it’s worth,” vocal soaring is especially magnetic, into the “relieve this growing curse,” more textured key-bolstered expanse. CHAFT continues to impress with “Worth,” which was recorded during the sessions for the 95 EP, though “took on a different character that didn’t quite fit with the rest of the project,” per Miller.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
