Fernando’s Eyes – ‘Center Of Your World’

The new album from Fernando’s Eyes, Center Of Your World embraces a nocturnal yet melodic fusing of dark pop and atmospheric post-punk. The Stockholm-based project represents the solo alias of Fernando Honorato, also noted as the singer and songwriter of Swedish post-punk band Principe Valiente. “I am very excited about this new chapter in my artistic journey and experimenting with new ways of writing music,” Honorato says of the album, which captivates definitively in its gripping structural ascents and mood-filled soundscapes.

Solemn acoustics and a gripping, quivering vocal entrancement consumes from the get-go on opening track “City Of Strangers.” Chilling synths aptly accompany lyrical descriptions of an endless sea and a sense of lonesomeness, further bolstered by murmured guitar elements– aesthetically reminding fondly of Better Person. The dual-vocal power that follows, along with more expressive synths and guitars, enthrall with the palpable momentum and emotion — commencing the album with a firm display of Honorato’s songwriting talents.

The album’s title track also stands out for its pulsing moodiness. A post-punk bass rumbling expands into a more vigor-full presence as jangling guitars intensify into the “all I want is to be there by your side” vocal pleas. Another highlight comes via the album’s first single “A Million Times,” whose self-titled EP also caught our ears in April. “More For You” also excels in its more immediate rock expanse, exuding an anthemic vocal entrancement alongside swifter guitar maneuvers and shining synths. Full of both stylish and melodic appeal, Center Of Your World is a thoroughly memorable output from Fernando’s Eyes.
