Heddy Edwards – “Dreamcast”

Melodic guitar twangs and spacey synths meld wonderfully on “Dreamcast,” a song by Heddy Edwards described as “about the pursuit of self-improvement amid mental health setbacks.” Jangling guitars and personal lyrical depictions, of a panic attack that puts one right back in bed, stir with a magnetic melodic pull — arriving into an anthemic “nothing that fills the void” bridge, and subsequently gorgeous chorus as Edwards’ vocals lament: “I’m tired of breaking plans, breaking down.”

From its initial momentum to a bursting chorus and satisfying dance-forward outro, “Dreamcast” is another gem from Heddy Edwards, who caught our ears recently as well with the track “The other side of town.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
