On new EP ALL ABOUT U, Los Angeles-based artist melliejellie crafts a vibrant, hook-filled electronic suite driven by jumpy bass, shimmering synths, and expressive vocal loops. The three-track release seamlessly shifts from house-infused urgency into brisk drum-and-bass cadences, balancing crisp momentum with deep emotional clarity.

Opening the EP, “looking 4 u” exudes ample mystique through its sophisticated layering. “I won’t wait for you,” a repeating vocal loop intones, initially complemented by string-laden vibrancy and subdued percussion. A heavier bass buzzing and house-ready percussive flair follow, matching the more upfront melodic mixing to convey a defiant enthrallment. A dreamy keyboard line charms past the one-minute mark, while the finale excites through an escalated tempo and nostalgic feeling, resembling a triumphant retro video game soundtrack.

The ensuing “i want u 2 tell me” treads more blissfully, embracing caressing synth pads and a caffeinated electronic arpeggio, moving into a lush electro-pop allure with aesthetic shades of DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ. Then arrives EP finale “all about u,” bolstered by a lyrical plea not to “lose you again” prior to a serene “looking for you” phrasal repetition. The whirring synth tones transition into a head-nodding rhythmic infectiousness, straddling starry-eyed arpeggios and danceable, rhythm-heavy intensity. ALL ABOUT U is a fantastic, consistently melodic EP from melliejellie.
