Nate Daniels – “King of the Thrill”

Canadian artist Nate Daniels compels with an emotional folk sound on “King of the Thrill,” developing from lush guitar-forward introspection to expressive vocal soaring.

A retrospective, adoring sentiment rings out from the get-go, with the opening vocals: “It was freshman year / You were out of some mystery school.”: The movement to a higher-pitched “you’re an angel, baby” sequence stirs, followed by multi-layered vocal momentum, crisp guitar twangs, and an affirming “who made you” refrain. “King of the Thrill” is an affecting track, infusing memory and nostalgia in glimpses of someone from the past, who made your world spin with both joy and stomach-turning anticipation.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
