Manchester-based Lee Miller Matsos‘ Metamorphosis, Pt. 3 completes his three-part EP series, pairing nostalgic ’90s alt-rock textures with synths, Mellotron, and memorable vocals. An opera and musical theater performer turned theatrical pop-rock artist, Matsos traces a deeply personal progression from grief and brokenness toward hope, healing, and restoration across the series.
Opening the EP, a 2026 remaster of “Love Came Home to Stay” delights in its absorbing songcraft. Twangy guitar tones and bouncy piano drive into Matsos’ introspective delivery, framing himself as once “an ordinary creature, just following the ordinary flow.” That initial perspective of a calming, uneventful life shifts as he sings, “my soul keeps yearning after you,” expanding into lovely backing harmonies and further emotion, propelled by vibrant guitar riffs and a cathartic, impassioned “hold all this pain” outpouring.
This fantastic opener then leads into “Youth Is Gone,” spanning from piano and string-laden accounts of self-discovery to a resonant build of layered harmonic power. “Gotta get going,” a motivational quality ensues, confronting the unrealized potential of dreams if they have nothing to “stand on.” The variety between elegant piano and more bursting ardor is fully compelling. The next track, “Change,” caught our ears earlier this month, while EP finale “Garbage On Your Streets” caps it all off with smitten qualities, the “you’re the greatest to me” lyricism aligning with further pushes to keep moving forward and into a cathartic, title-bearing fervency. Metamorphosis, Pt. 3 shows an abundance of fantastic songwriting from Lee Miller Matsos.
