UK garage foundations meet contemporary club production on Elements 2 //, the latest full-length release from sibling duo Star.One. Arriving twelve years after their original Elements mixtape, the project reflects the pair’s evolution from early grime influences toward a broader embrace of UK dance music, bringing together garage, bass, and drum-and-bass with a keen ear for club-ready hooks.
Opening track “Right About Now (Intro) //” quickly showcases the project’s knack for dynamic song structures and tonal variety, here expanding from a simmering, nocturnal melding of climactic synths and deep lead presence into a riveting danceability, injecting a deep house vigor as blaring synths, exhilarated performance cuts, and panting percussion build with invigorating allure. Ensuing track “Came To Dance //” builds with artful momentum as well, spanning from the “two shots with a drink in my hands” delivery briskness and arpeggiated synth glow into an absorbing drop at the 40-second mark, where head-nodding rhythms and effervescent synths compel.
Another fantastic production comes on “MasterBlaster 2025,” featuring DJ Luck & MC Neat, Jme, and SWN. “I need me a million pounds,” an enveloping hip-hop delivery exudes as drum-and-bass maneuvers combine with playful synth elements, before pushing into a soulful, funky harmonic croon. Elsewhere, “Ibiza Haze //” stands out with its balmy vibrancy, its dreamy lead suaveness and bouncy bass line hypnotizing to a lovely rhythmic expanse just before the two-minute turn hits. Full of stylish, ultra-catchy electronic productions, Elements 2 // is an excellent full-length output from Star.One.
