Rebel ACA & French Monkey Wrench – “Never Give Up” (remixed by Lil’ Rossco)

Impressing prior with the tracks like “African James Bond” and “John Wayne,” the London-based duo of Rebel ACA & French Monkey Wrench continue delivering a melodic sound with hip-hop and pop convergence, called at times “the British Run the Jewels.” New track “Never Give Up” exudes a motivational title-referencing refrain, featuring iStand and Danny Sprang. A pulsing beat features piano reflections and synth buzzing, melodically complementing the various vocal deliveries, all showing well throughout. “Never Give Up” — remixed by Lil’ Rossco — is a fun listen with its repeating refrain and various verses.

Rebel ACA explains more about the track:

“This was originally written in the Butterhut NW10 (London) over one afternoon and gave it to Lil’ Rossco to remix. Well he made an even better song. Except iStand now sounds like a Dalek. Never one to quibble over whose oranges are juiciest when the pips are down, we are proudly releasing his version instead.”

“Life isn’t easy and has a habit to feel like a queue of people that has lined up to punch you in the face. So don’t give up. Ever. We filmed this tongue in cheek video playing with the more minor comedy matters that test your patience. The home delivery driver finding your flat, the flat-pack furniture frustration, the endless apparent need to exercise – even with that meaningless bullshit – it takes all that you have – to keep going. This track continues our series of single releases and collaborations with Spragga Benz and Rodney P – this one switches up our artwork. Because frankly we’ve given up on that look and moving on to the next.”

“Never Give Up” and other memorable tracks from July 2021 can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2021’ Spotify playlist.
