MP3: Trails And Ways – “Tereza”

MP3: Trails And Ways – Tereza

Trails And Ways pursue an aggressive style of dream-pop, with alt-rock and industrial post-punk tendencies arising in much of their material, including on new track “Tereza”. Lead vocalist Emma Oppen has a high-pitched, airy bite that more often shows up in punk music. It works well here though, in gripping form no less. To complement this stylistic direction, her additional role as the four-piece’s bassist suggests an upbringing in post-punk. On “Tereza”, guitars project a flurry of single notes that bounce off the thickly reverberating bass, resembling a concise rhythm/guitar collaboration reminiscent of Wild Flag and White Rose Movement. The chorus soars higher and louder, bringing those aforementioned alt-rock leanings to the table as well. “Tereza” is a solid effort from this Oakland-based group.
