Tipling Rock – “Low Tide Love”

Boston-based quartet Tipling Rock mesh together surf-rock’s trickling nonchalance with the hook-filled ferocity of The Strokes’ vein of garage-rock, these two styles apparent in the structural distinctions within “Low Tide Love” alone; the beginning vocal lines – delivered in wonderfully effective form – skates along more garage-laden territory, while the moments where the guitar takes the lead and the drums stomp prominently assume a more trickling surf-tinged character, not too distant from the likes of Surfer Blood. When you’re a young new band in the garage-rock spectrum and already being favorably compared to The Strokes and Surfer Blood, you know you’re doing something right.
