The Tins – “Clearly Not Zen”

/

From forming in a Binghamton, NY basement to becoming one of the most reputable acts in the fledging Buffalo music scene, The Tins continue to elevate with tracks like the recent “Clearly Not Zen”. The track is off their new EP, City Lies, recorded at their own space, Mammoth Recording Studio, in Buffalo, NY. You can stream the EP in its entirety below.

“Clearly Not Zen” traverses from understated beginnings to a very effective melodic transition at 01:31, showing a powerful hook that begs for repeated listens. A huskier vein of The Shins comes to mind as a stylistic comparison, with a bit of The Associates vibe present in the vocal’s presence during the hook. It’s a fantastic track, along with the rest of the strongly recommended EP:
