The Francos – “Tasman”

/

“Tasman” is a soaring electro-rock anthem from The Francos, a band that formed in early 2014 in a suburban garage in Wollongong, Australia. Per the band, the track “recounts the time that Xavier (our bass player/guitarist/singer of the verses) moved back to Australia after living in New Zealand during his teenage years. The song outlines the differences between two close nations, as well as the difficulties of moving.” Following their debut EP, Take The Train Home, last year, The Francos are back at it with their second EP, with an emphasis on groovy bass lines, highly syncopated drum beats, and a nice blind of synths and alluring guitar melodies — a sound exemplified well by “Tasman”, where a hook with a soaring prog-rock mentality is led by fervent vocals and is sandwiched by climactic, lush verses.

“Tasman” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2018’ Spotify playlist.
