Hypnos Soma – “Hear the Call”

Hypnos Soma are a psych-rock act from London, whose recent self-titled album shows multiple soundscapes dripping with reverb and hypnotic guitars. Opener “Hear the Call” recalls the soporific tendencies of Spiritualized, especially when the guitars crawl into a more lethargic pace before building up with percussive intensity, around the two-minute mark. Psych-friendly keys emerge shortly thereafter, emitting Tame Impala vibes. “Cold Water” is another highlight, seeing the gradual escalation of lush guitars into one with blistering, jagged leads. These tracks build with an enjoyably natural hypnotic glow.
