Dimitri von Büren – “Moonlight Confession”

/

Also the lead singer of the French pop band MJ 12, Dimitri von Büren is trying his hand at solo material. The laid-back track “Moonlight Confession” marks Dimitri’s first self-produced effort, “inspired by all the chillpop / bedroom pop moods,” that have been on his radar lately. Here, the Paris-based artist impresses with jangly, fluid guitar work and accompanying spacey synth flourishes. Tonal shifts maintain the captivating quality, ranging from a Talking Heads-like presence in the hooks to more subdued moments of beauty, like the interlude just past the two-minute mark. Scenic and melodic, “Moonlight Confession” is a success.

“Moonlight Confession” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2018’ Spotify playlist.
