Current Eternal – “Save The Day”

/

South London-based composer/instrumentalist/singer Nikky French fronts the project Current Eternal, whose new track “Save The Day” blends colorful, atmospheric electronics with clever pop smarts. French successfully pursues an aesthetic steeped in orchestral flourishes, though primarily electronic in nature.

“It’s kind of like if Four Tet was more live and had songs, or if The Cinematic Orchestra were more edgy, and if Bonobo was less Bonoboey,” Nikky says of the project’s sound, going on to describe this particular track as a “non political song about the choice between apathy vs stepping up to the challenges we face.” Gliding synths and suave vocals intermingle around such tinges of orchestral pushes, particularly prominent around 01:54 as smattering of strings emerge. It’s a very engrossing track with an eclectic stylistic allure.

“Save The Day” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Innovative Electro.
