Beach Language – “Be Afraid”

/

“Be Afraid” is the first single off Small Talk, the debut album releasing on June 18th from Oklahoma City act Beach Language. A strong first showing, “Be Afraid” develops from shimmering, sporadic synths and gentle guitar accompaniments into a more thunderous hook as the one-minute mark approaches. The “to be free,” chorus sees an uptick in the intensity of both energetic guitars and effervescent synths. The vocals fade around the three-minute mark as the guitar work takes over, with a jangly progression gradually aided by a lit-up synth backing. “Be Afraid” is a well-produced, catchy effort that shows a confident and accessible aesthetic emphasizing guitars and synths.

“Be Afraid” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.
