Gold Baby – “500/1”

/

North London act Gold Baby touts a consuming vein of dreamy alt-rock, led by songwriter Siân Alex. Somewhere between Fiona Apple and Pavement in terms of aesthetic, Gold Baby impress with new single “50/1,” which reflects on passing years and wasted time. Ruminating verses, with guitar trickles and swelling vocals, lead into a chorus that soars with distorted power-pop allure. The band will be releasing several more tracks throughout the summer, including “Japanese Racehorse” and “Philadelphia.” “500/1” succeeds in its convincing aesthetic and pleasant melodic, so I’ll definitely be anticipating these upcoming tracks.

“500/1” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2019’ Spotify playlist.
