Sessue – “Magic For Monkeys”

Sessue is a producer/artist from the Bay Area, impressing with the melodic “Magic For Monkeys.” The beginnings tout a nonchalant, jangle-rock yearning in the Mac DeMarco vein. An ensuing chorus reflects a more twinkling, melodic vein of rock. Heady, psych-rock guitars emerge around 03:40, with the track closing out here with a heavier rock allure. “Magic For Monkeys” does great in showing variation in its three stages, from a consuming initial dream-pop allure to a twinkling rock hook, closed off by psych-rock rumblings.

The track comes via Sessue’s debut EP Bedroom Pop, streaming in full below:

“Magic For Monkeys” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Lush Jangle-Rock.
