The Vices – “Sly Smiled Berlin Child”

/

“Sly Smiled Berlin Child” is a newly released track from The Vices, hailing the Netherlands. The track seamlessly swaps between fairly straight-cutting guitar/bass suaveness and organ-laden rock excitement. An organ burst approaching the one-minute mark signals an added vibrancy to the vocals and guitar work. From here, the track shows a stop-start approach between the more guitar-fronted verses and organ-accompanied chorus. “Sly Smiled Berlin Child” is the first single from the band’s upcoming second EP.

“‘Sly Smiled Berlin Child’ is about how fragile the most wonderful things in life can be, and about turning that fragility into beauty,” the band says. “Every now and then, you meet that special someone, someone who is completely different to the rest. She was a blooming, but clearly scarred, girl. She was amazing, different and creative, but damaged by life.”

“Sly Smiled Berlin Child” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2020’ Spotify playlist.
