“In the Morning” is the soaring debut from A.O. Gerber, a rising Los Angeles-based artist whose sound reminds me of Angel Olsen and Neko Case. The shining brass-forward movement in the track’s mid-section brings the already-illuminating melody to the next level. A conclusion with wordless backing vocals and escalating effervescence caps “In the Morning” off in beautiful, sunlight-greeting form. Building engagingly from lusher singer/songwriter beginnings into vibrant infectiousness, “In the Morning” is a thrilling debut.
