Lonely Teenage – “Guyana, 1978”

/

“Guyana, 1978” is an impressive track from Lonely Teenage, a band based out of Rockford, IL. The twangy guitar lead and backing acoustical flutter make for a lovingly hypnotic feel throughout. The first half touts a climactic, gripping appeal. Around 03:30, the ascension into psych-rock goodness makes for a beautiful series of events. “Guyana, 1978” is certainly a track that consumes. The twangy guitar touch is a fixture throughout, alongside the ruminating acoustical backbone and retrospective vocals. Aesthetically, I’m fondly reminded of Modest Mouse’s most contemplative works.

“Guyana, 1978” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
