Vajra – “Sever The Tie”

Exemplary of the intense, hard rock sound presented from NYC-based act Vajra, “Sever The Tie” comes via Vajra’s new EP, Irkalla. A bustling rhythm section pairs with passionate vocals to start, generating a rousing sense of climatic allure. The chant-forward, meditative bridge at the 40-second mark builds enjoyably to an anthemic, hard-rocking chorus. The guitars intensify with particular fervor around 01:10, as the vocals ring out with trance-inducing intensity. Several interesting textural and structural shifts occur thereafter, nicely indicative of the band’s knack for creative songwriting with unpredictable song structures.

They also released a music video for fellow EP cut “Maya.”

“Sever The Tie” and other memorable tracks from December can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2020’ Spotify playlist.
