Brian Elliot – “Familiar Walk to Nowhere”

//

From Nashville-based artist Brian Elliot‘s new album of the same name, “Familiar Walk to Nowhere” is enjoyably representative of the artist’s cinematic, expanding vein of songwriting. Solemn vocals and a singular guitar twang open the track, the vocals assuming an escalating howl alongside chilly backing organs past the one-minute turn. Lavish strings then adorn the background, fully cementing the effort’s expanding tendencies. “We were reckless,” Elliot lets out, aesthetically reminding of The Last Shadow Puppets. The second half rouses with an anthemic stirring of vocals, guitars, organs, and strings — consuming throughout. “Familiar Walk to Nowhere” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2021’ Spotify playlist.
