Lucid Express – “Hotel 65”

//

“Hotel 65” invigorates with gorgeous vocals and a shoegaze-forward textural showcase of guitars. The latest track from Hong Kong-based five-piece Lucid Express, “Hotel 65” impresses with its range of dreamy pop nostalgia and heavy shoegaze delights, all while retaining a cohesive structural form. The variety is apparent early; the 30-second mark engages with a lush, dreamy charm, escalating moments later alongside piercing guitar textures and a fervent vocal rise. Fans of shoegaze, dream-pop, and everything in between are bound to appreciate “Hotel 65,” in addition to the band’s forthcoming debut album.

“Hotel 65” marks the final release before the release of Lucid Express’ upcoming debut album, out July 16th on Kanine Records.

The track’s video is described as such:

“The “Hotel 65” video is crafted as a collage of footage taken from the band’s travels in their native Hong Kong, as well as in Vietnam, Japan, the UK and the United States. These flashes of scenery reflect the lyrical turns of the song, while being interspersed with the words themselves scrawled onto mirrors, notebooks and paper scraps.”

“Hotel 65” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Shoegaze / Dream-Pop.
