aoihr – “Take Me Somewhere”

//

“Take Me Somewhere” is a dreamy rock track from aoihr, the Tokyo-based project of Shunsuke Abe. The one-man band pursues a darker, more shoegaze-focused direction on this track, compared to previous releases. Vibrant guitars lead into a warming accompaniment from the rhythm section, followed by sharp synth-laden fragments in the lush verses. The percussion and bass intensify just prior to the one-minute mark as Abe’s vocals heighten. Various sections blend seamlessly in the midst of tonal variety, from the more restrained synth-forward verses to erupting guitar-laden bursts. “Take Me Somewhere” is a success from aoihr.

“Take Me Somewhere” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
