Mother Culture – “Drawing By Design”

“Drawing By Design” is a stirring, enthusiastic track from Mother Culture, the Melbourne-based duo comprising brothers Darcy and Spencer Ward. Touting a crisp and vibrant vein of poppy rock, “Drawing By Design” lyrically captures the feeling of being in a relationship with someone who often acts without thinking. The “it’s comin'” refrain starts the momentous build, culminating in the ardent title-referencing vocal punctuation echoing the spontaneity — though potential tumult — of such a partnership. The “it’s never enough,” ensuing vocal channels a bouncy rock energy that easily hooks; the contrast between the psych-friendly retrospection and vibrant rock play with an interesting, successful fervor throughout.

“Drawing By Design” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2021’ Spotify playlist.
