Nikki Manos – “Roses & Tumbleweeds”

/

A suave success with shades of Nick Cave, “Roses & Tumbleweeds” is a new track from Nikki Manos, the alter ego of L.A.-based producer Ironfirst. The artist’s embrace of Southern New Mexico roots and cinematic atmosphere results in an entrancing production; solemnly deep vocals and twangy guitars hypnotize throughout, alongside electronic production flourishes that resonate. The gravelly vocals fade as consuming turntablism emerges, including thematically apt vocal samples. A bluesy guitar envelops during the satiating final minute. “Roses & Tumbleweeds” is an enthralling journey of a listen.

“Roses & Tumbleweeds” is among the singles from Nikki Manos’ upcoming EP, Rebel’s Twilight, described as “a concept ‘Techno Western’ Album that combines Western Movie themes, Blues Rock, and Techno elements.”

“The Ethos was to make a post-modern western soundtrack that sounds lofi and futuristic,” he says. “Throughout the entire project, there are many homages to classic American and Euro Westerns.”

“‘Roses and Tumbles’ is the song on this album with the most swagger and bravado. I picture it as the big shootout scene between Nikki and the Antagonist. It absolutely has an outlaw feel.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2022’ Spotify playlist.
